As the principal of Adam Friedman Associates, founded in 1999, Adam plays an important strategic role in all AFA accounts. He has over 30 years of experience in all aspects of communications. Adam has extensive experience in the financial sector; in particular, he has been involved in M&A transactions, IPOs, crisis communications and restructurings. He has expertise in financial services, media relations and thought leadership. Adam has represented Fortune 500 companies as well as startups. Prior to forming AFA, Adam was Managing Partner of KCSA Worldwide, where he built the firm’s financial relations practice. He holds an M.A. from New York University and an MBA from the Baruch School of Business. He has been published in numerous periodicals and is currently an adjunct associate professor at NYU, where he teaches investor relations, public affairs and integrated marketing.
Prior to joining AFA, Elizabeth Howard founded Broadbridge International Group Ltd., in 1987. Prior to that, Elizabeth held corporate communications positions with two fortune 500 companies, National Distillers and Chemical Corporations and Transway International Corporation. Elizabeth has travelled extensively domestically and internationally to speak about issues related to communications, marketing and human rights. Her articles have appeared in European Communications, Investor Relations, Law Firm Marketing & Profit Report, Communication Arts, Communication Worlds, The Strategist and the New York Law Journal, among others.
George has over 25 years of experience in public relations and public affairs. Over the course of his career, he has held senior management positions at leading strategic communications and integrated marketing agencies including Hill and Knowlton, Carl Byoir & Associates and Brouillard Communications. He has worked with Fortune 500 companies as well as emerging businesses, industry associations and not-for-profit organizations on a range of issues and assignments. Between 2002 and 2012, George was a partner and founder of McGrath Matter Associates, an independent public relations and public affairs firm.
Over the course of her career, Julia has created and executed successful B2B corporate communication, public relations and social media campaigns for clients large and small across a variety of industries. Prior to working at AFA, Julia worked at FerenComm, a PR agency that specializes in television, whose client list includes AMC, Bravo, Travel Channel, Starz and more. Julia holds a M.S. in Public Relations & Corporate Communication from New York University and a B.S. in Journalism from the University of Tennessee.
Dan Charnas has worked with Adam Friedman and AFA since 2007 in various leadership and account-management capacities. A 20-year corporate communications veteran, Dan’s broad-based professional experience is based in the planning and execution of significant strategic communications programs and campaigns that furthered ideas, compelled actions, increased awareness and drove revenues for a variety of publicly held and private corporate clients with operations in a range of industries and end markets.
As an Account Executive, Taryn supports the AFA team in account management and executing communication campaigns; she also manages social media for the firm’s clients. Before joining AFA, she completed her M.S. in Public Relations & Corporate Communication at New York University. While at NYU, Taryn interned with two boutique lifestyle agencies, where she worked on artisanal food, wine, spirits and women’s health accounts. She wrote her master’s thesis on how food trucks can use social media as a PR tool. Taryn holds a B.A. in Communication from the University of Southern California.
